13.1 Identify Stakeholders

Process Definition

The next process in the initiation phase is identifying all stakeholders.  This process is one of the most important because projects are undertaken to fulfill the requirements of stakeholders.  This process also evaluates each stakeholder for their level of interest, role and responsibilities, and influence on the project outcome.

Process Assessment

Identifying stakeholders takes place in during the early stages of the project.  To satisfy and fulfill the requirements of your stakeholders, project managers need to find them, involve them and keep them engaged throughout the life of the project.  Your project will be successful if your stakeholders are happy.
