Process Definition

Estimating activity resources is just that, estimating how much workforce, material, equipment, supplies, and other resources it will take to accomplish each specific activity.  This activity defines project cost to a more specific amount and aids project management in determining the budget required to accomplish the project work scope.

Process Assessment 

This process breaks down each activity from a cost standpoint, to determine how much each activity should cost.  This does not mean that costs will not change due to increasing cost of material, manpower, or processes, nor does it mean the sum of these activity costs should be the final budget.  This activity cost baseline is used as part of a greater budget cost estimation discussed as part of PMBOK Guide process 7.2. 

ARTIFACTS

1. PMGT 614 WBS 8.5 Bicycle Risk: As an input, the risk register provides a list of potential events that can impact manpower and material.
2. PMGT 501 WBS 1 Project Management Software Review: As a tool, this artifact reviews project management software and the benefits it offers project managers and their teams. 
3. Estimate Activity Resources: The attached artifact estimates activity resources as a technique use for expert judgement.  As part of Estimate Activity Resources, factors involving operation in a global setting and those factors governing a failing project are taken into consideration.
