5.0 Project Scope Management

This area clearly identifies all deliverables required to satisfy goals and objectives of the project.  The main output from this process, is the scope statement, a work break down structure (WBS), all major deliverables, along with a WBS dictionary.  The processes that are used in this group are:

 Process Definition

This is the process of creating a scope management plan that documents how the project scope will be defined, validated and controlled.  The PMBOK states that this process is key in providing guidance on how the project will be managed.

Process Assessment

Planning the scope management plan is similar to the planning the project management plan.  We have to start with a statement of work, WBS and other requirements before establishing an output for this process.

 1. Project Charter (Input): Using the Project Charter from PMGT 501, this project charter provides insight and details to a wedding.  As an input to the "Plan Scope Management" process it provides a description of the deliverables and acceptance criteria for a project.

2. Expert Judgement: This artifact is an essay describing expert judgements and how they are utilized to assist project manager in developing a scope management plan.

3. Scope Management Plan (output): describes the tools for developing a scope management plan, scope statement, WBS, and how they are controlled and reported.  This artifact was taken from an assignment from PMGT 614.
