Process Definition

Integrated change control defines and unifies processes in support of project objectives.  Whether driven by process monitoring, risk evaluation, or simply by a change request, changes should be reflected in the project scope, schedule, and budget, as required.  The use of a formal change process allows management to evaluate each change request based on impact and added project value, while at the same time ensuring the project objective is not overlooked.

Process Assessment

The integrated change control process serves the purpose of maintaining control over the entire project process.  Not all requested changes are in the best interest of the project of the project sponsor.  The creation and use of a formal process establishes the change review board, standardizes the change request form, and creates the change log.  The creation of the change request is entered into the log and then submitted to the review board to determine whether or not the change is warranted.  The value of this process is that it helps identify those changes needed to maintain project quality and value to the project sponsor.
