4.0 Project Integration Management

Project integration management includes the processes and activities to identify, define, combine, unify, and coordinate the various processes and project management activities within the project management process groups (PMI, 2013, p. 554).  During the initiating process group, we are gathering information to help identify and define who, what, where, when, why and how of a given project.  Defining and developing the initial scope, as well as identifying stakeholders will help answer these questions and lead to the creation of the project charter.

4.1 Develop Project Charter

Process Definition

The project charter is a statement of the scope, goals and objectives, and list of stakeholders involved in the project.  It defines roles and responsibilities, outlines the project objectives, and clearly defines project management's authority.  This document creates the formal relationship between the customer and project management team.  Once approved, project management has the authority to access and utilize organizational assets and procure the needed material or services in direct support of the project objective.

2.  Expert Judgment and Facilitation Techniques:  A brief personal essay outlining a technique for writing a good project charter.

3.  Kitchen Remodel Project Charter: This project charter was a group homework assignment from PMGT 502 WBS 7.  The project charter is the only output for this process and contains the objective, scope, work breakdown structure, budget, key milestones, deliverables, and responsibility matrix.
