Hello, I'm Troy Stempfley.

Upon completion of 20 years active duty in the US Air Force, where I was served as a Minuteman Missile Maintenance Technician and Air Traffic Controller, I began looking for new challenges.  I was hired as an Air Force civilian Air Traffic Controller and completed my Bachelors of Science Degree in Aeronautics then decide to pursue a Master of Science degree in Project Management. During the first course in my new studies, I realized I had been actively participating, executing and managing projects throughout my military career.  My life experience have provided a solid foundation for this career path and I was excited to learn more.

I grew up traveling the world; my military father and experiences had taught me to appreciate different cultures.  At age sixteen I took work as a Autoparts salesman in a large automotive performance and machine shop. There I learned customer service, follow up, accountability and to be receptive customers needs, spoken and  implied. I also developed a sense of workflow and schedule manipulation when things didn't go as planned.

After my enlistment I had first taste of complex project planning and execution working in the Minuteman Maintenance Control Center during the height of the cold war.  My daily routine was to execute planned maintenance monitoring and controlling up to 15 teams, tracking time schedules, insuring proper parts and equipment procurement and team makeup and qualifications.  I also was responsible for responding to conflicts and changes while prioritizing the maintenance to be performed based upon mission needs.  I also had to develop plans and schedules for the next days and weeks projects.  Though not as formally developed as corporate projects I used many of the same skills my education has expounded on.

In my later military years projects became more involved and followed more closely the Initiation, planning and execution paths found in my course studies.  This experience and my education have provided me with greater ability forecast results analyze the monetary effects of time schedules and risks and apply, and develop responses for the most effective outcome.  In essences this course has filled in the blanks of my military project experiences.  I now know what, why and a better way of how to initiate, execute, manage and close projects.
